SMS Text Message Program

Helping Tavia is a private scheduling tool that lets family and friends sign up to support Tavia Gilchrist during cancer treatment — meals, rides, chemo support, and home visits. Volunteers who provide their mobile number and opt in receive SMS text-message reminders about the shifts they have personally signed up for.

Automated SMS shift reminders for shifts you signed up for — for example: “Hi Sam — reminder: your shift starts at 9 AM today (Chemo Sitting). See gilchristfamily.care/calendar”

Message frequency varies and depends on how many shifts you sign up for — typically about one message per shift. You will only receive messages tied to shifts you have personally signed up for.

Message and data rates may apply. Helping Tavia does not charge for these messages.

Opt-in is optional and only happens when you create a volunteer profile, enter your mobile number, and check the SMS reminders box. The consent language presented at sign-up reads:

By checking this box, you agree to receive automated SMS text-message reminders from Helping Tavia about volunteer shifts you sign up for (typically 1 message per shift; message frequency varies). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.

You can cancel SMS reminders at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages. For help, reply HELP or email reminders@gilchristfamily.care. You can also turn reminders off anytime in your profile.

We collect your name and mobile number only to coordinate volunteer support and send the reminders described above. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Mobile information is used solely to operate this program.
